An anticyclone is a weather phenomenon defined as a large scale to and fro movement of air around a region of high atmospheric pressure. anticyclone direction is counterclockwise in the Southern Hemisphere and air flows clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere.

It is also called as weatherless phenomena because of the absence of winds which are mainly responsible for changing the weather. As the air descends in the center of the anti-cyclonic region, it warms and can hold greater moisture. So in summer, anti-cyclone results in hot and dry condition and in winter may lead to fog. The situation is usually sustained for a few days.
