Answer:

Political science is one of the social sciences dealing with the political activities of man. It deals with the state and government. It studies the origin and nature of state and forms of political institutions. The study of the state is the main subject matter of political science. Initially, political science took up the study of institutions like state and government and its functioning. When democracy emerged, the concept of political participation also gained importance. As a result, in addition to the study of political institutions, the study of political processes also became a part of political science. It comprises of four branches- political theories, administration, comparative politics and international politics. Political Science helps to understand the birth and growth of a state. It provides information about the type of governments and political activities involved in the functioning of the state. It provides information about the origin nd development of ideas such as monarchy, freedom, justice, laws, equality, good government, wars and peace, etc. It provides information about the structure and functions of state and central governments. It provides knowledge about the Constitution and laws of the State. It helps us to understand about the organs of the government i.e., legislature, executive and judiciary and their functions.
