- The conversion of gas into solid state on cooling directly without converting into liquid state is known as desublimation or deposition. It is also known as sublimation.
- Desublimation is the reverse process of sublimation.
- The solid that undergoes sublimation is known as sublime.
- The solid that is obtained upon cooling the vapours of a solid sublime is known as sublimate.
- Eg -: Dry Ice, Camphor, Benzoic Acid, Naphthalene ball, Iodine, etc.
- Eg -: Solid Carbon Dioxide (also known as Dry Ice) sublimes to form Carbon Dioxide Gas.
