Answer:

The Hundred Dresses is a beautiful story; it is based on the theme of discrimination, judgmental attitude people have for people around us. In this story we see Wanda Petronsky being judged for her unique name and qualities. She was made fun of by Paggy, Madeline, and other girls. But Wanda never reacted to it.

Wanda stopped coming to school; quite interestingly Wanda won the drawing competition held at the school. Then all the students realized how talented Wanda was. They felt sorry for having treated Wanda badly. Madeline, particularly felt bad as she also was not very rich.

Wanda’s father wrote a letter to Wanda’s teacher complaining about the ill-treatment his daughter had received from the American students.

Madeline and Peggy went to Wanda’s home; they were informed Wanda’s family had shifted to another city. They wrote a letter to Wanda feeling sorry for their mistakes. But Wanda did not reply to their letter.

However, near Christmas the school received letter from Wanda. The teacher read the letter to the class. Wanda had written she was happy in another city. She had gifted the green dress drawing to Peggy; and blue dress drawing to Madeline.

On reaching home she saw the dress carefully, she found Wanda had drawn her face on the dress that looked so much like her face. She ran to Peggy and observed that on green dress, there was Peggy’s face. Both the girls felt so much moved at Wanda’s care for them. Tears of regret and thankfulness welled up in their eyes.

This story teaches us we should never make fun of the unique differences of our fellow human beings. We should try to accept them as they are and be cooperative with them.
