The main theme of the story ‘A Cup of Tea’ is the selfishness that is present among the rich women n the society.

EXPLANATION:  

   In the story, Rosemary is a rich lady who ensures that whatever she touches would become better than the previous state after her action. When other rich women went to London for shopping, Rosemary would go to Paris to do her shopping. She finds it difficult to pay 28 guineas for the ornamental box, which was declared to be useless, by her husband.

   She wanted to imitate the characters of Dostoyevsky novels. So she takes Miss Smith to her home and treats her in a good manner. She wanted to discover the thrill in it. She even wanted to be the only one, among her friends, to help a poor one.
