usually all the substances can exist in all the three states it all depends upon to whch conditions they are subjected too. Mercury and water are not the only substances that can exist in all the three states.

eg1 - nitrogen exists as solid on the planet pleuto. but in atmosphere of earth it is gas but can easily be liquified .

eg2 - Mercury it is liquid at room temperature but can be liquified wd the help of nitrogen and its vapours are used in CFL bulbs
