Answer:

Firstly, Neptune is the eight and farthest planet from the Sun with one orbit of the Sun taking 164.8 years and Aphelion 4.54 billion km, Perihelion 4.46 billion km and Semi-major axis (mean distance from the Sun) 4.5 billion km. Voyager 2 was the only space-craft to visit Neptune up close. The mission was launched in August 20th 1977 and its closest approach to Neptune on August 25th 1989 which is almost exactly 12 years. Future missions would have to take Neptune and Earth’s orbit together at their closest so the space-craft will have a shorter journey than if their orbits were farther away from each other. Also the actual speed of the space-craft is a factor also. The answer is really 24 years for a return-trip to Neptune from Earth, figures could deviate for future missions but by not much.

Answer:

Earth was in their orbits when the mission was launched. For example, the Voyager 2 spacecraft was launched on Aug 20, 1977, and it reached Neptune on Aug 24, 1989. So, Voyager 2 took about twelve years to reach Neptune.

hope so it helps u dear
