Question:

What is the total surface area of the cubical box which is opened from one side whose outer side is 5cm and thickness is 0.5cm?

Answer:

Length (l) = 5cm

Breadth (b) = 5cm

Height (h) = 5cm

TSA of cuboid = 2(l*b+b*h+h*l)

= 2 × (5 × 5 + 5 × 5 + 5× 5)

= 2 × (25 + 25 + 25)

= 2 × (75)

= 150 sq cm

Now , we know that box is open from top so we have to subtract Area of rectangle from TSA .

Area of rectangle = l × b

= 5 × 5

= 25 sq cm

The surface area of open cuboidal box

= TSA of cuboidal box - Area of rectangle

= 150 - 25

= 125 sq cm

Hence, Answer - 125 sq cm
