The triple point is the single combination of temperature and pressure at which the solid, liquid and gaseous phases of a given substance are all at equilibrium with one another.

The triple point of pure water is at 0.01°C (273.16K, 32.01°F) and a partial vapor pressure of 611.657 pascals (6.11657 mbar; 0.00603659 atm).

The gas–liquid–solid triple point of water coincides to the minimum pressure at which liquid water can exist.

triple points of water :- at 273.16 K water present in all three phases e.g solid , liquid and gas . so , this temperature of water is known as triple points of water .
this is most useful in measurement of length of thermometer liquid when temperature difference from triple points of water by using concept of expansion .
formula, such like
∅ = (Lo/L )× 273.16
where Lo is initial length of liquid
L is final length of liquid at temperature ∆
∅ .
in the same way it is used in finding pressure , volume of liquid present in thermometer .
