It converts  the inactive enzyme pepsinogen into the active enzyme pepsin, which is responsible for digesting proteins in your stoma.
If excess is released than it cause acidity or uneasy feeling and taste in the throat.

Your answer

Step by step explanations

Uses of hcl

HCL breaks down proteins in your stomach to prepare them for digestion and kills bacteria that enter your stomach. It converts the inactive enzyme pepsinogen into the active enzyme pepsin, which is responsible for digesting proteins in your stomach. HCL also helps digest other foods in your stomach

Excess secretion

In the stomach, digestion begins with the release of a number of gastric secretions, including HCl, pepsinogen and a protective mucus coating. Secretion of hydrochloric acid and pepsin is a prerequisite for healthy digestion. ... The amount of HCl produced increases rapidly following the ingestion of food.

Stomach ulcers

Stomach ulcers are almost always caused by one of the following: an infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen.
