In a compound Microscope light is used to illuminate the object. So, mirror is used in this Microscope so that light could pass through the object /specimen.

In compound microscope a concave mirror is used , in which the object is placed near to the principle focus of the mirror so that the image produced will be real and highly magnified, which helps in studying the small object more carefully.
