In many plants we find needle like structures. There are various benefits of a plant having needle like structures.

The needle like structure helps in retaining water in the plants as they have a coating of wax which prevents from excessive water loss.

They come in handy during the process of photosynthesis as it extends the period of photosynthesis.

Since the surface area is less they can perform the process of photosynthesis even with little sunlight.

✔✔ Because evergreen conifers tend to grow in areas where snow falls, needles have adapted to reduce damage from the accumulation of snow.

✔✔ Because needles are narrow, it's difficult for snow to remain on the leaves, and it falls to the ground.

✔✔ It only accumulates if there is a density of needles.
