what is the use of rigidity of plant cells

the rigidity of plant cell is due to the outer cell wall. this rigidity or hardness helps the cell to withstand the force due to osmosis. an animal cell would burst whereas the cell wall exerts an equeal amount of force and prevents the cell from exploding
