In Chemistry the downward arrow ⬇ is often used to indicate that the product of a reaction will precipitate (form a solid and fall out of solution).

Here's an example:

\text{Pb(NO}_3\text{)}_2 (aq)+2\text{NaI}(aq) \to \text{PbI}_2 \downarrow + 2\text{NaNO}_3 (aq)

In this reaction the Lead salt ( \text{PbI}_2 ) is a precipitate that falls out of solution as a solid.

Side note: Similiarily and upwards arrow ↑ shows that a product is a gas and bubbles out of solution.
