worry not, I will be explaining you what is the use of timeline panel in adobe flash professional cs6.
first,
what is it's use?
it controls and organizes the document's content overtime in layers and frames. it is used to create animation.
=> for clear understanding keep on reading :)
when you open flash,
you see that there is toolbox at the left side and some palettes at the right side.
you also see that up above you have got flash menu.
also, you see timeline { which is like a scale } is present either with the topmost menu bar or at the bottom.
for example you have selected something be it a shape - circle
the scale would be having a bullet on 1. { part of scale is called a frame. }
then we right click on another frame on the scale and select the option insert key frame.
now you try to drag the selected circle somewhere.
and when you move the cursor from frame 1 to the 2nd one, you'll see that the circle is moving accordingly.
you can try and select more number of frames to move the image even more.
or simply what you call animation.
