what is the value of k in the polynomial x2 +8x+ k,if x-1 is a zero of the polynomial

x-1=1
then putting the value of x in equation.....
x2+8x+k
(1)^2 + 8(1)+k
1+8+k
9+k
k=9
value of k is 9 ......

p(x)=2+8x+kx
x-1=0
x=1
=>p(1)=2+8(1)+k(1) = 0
=>p(1)=2+8+k=0
=>p(1)=10+k=0
=>p(1)=k=(-10). And.
