Step by step explanation :

Here we've been given with four points in which a line from two points is parallel to the other line from two points.

Here y co-ordinate of first line is to be calculated.

Assuming that,

  • Point (3 , y) as a.
  • Point (2 , 7) as b.
  • Point (-1 , 4) as c
  • Point (0 , 6) as d.

So we'll be finding out the slopes of both the lines and after that keep them equal as due to the condition of parallelism of lines.

  • Slope (ab) = 7 - y / 2 - 3 => y - 7
  • Slope (cd) = 6 - 4 / 0 + 1 => 2

• Slope (ab) = Slope (cd)

Therefore,

  • y - 7 = 2
  • y = 9

Henceforth, value of y is 9.
