According to the bohr’s atomic model, we can calculate speed of an electron in any orbit using the formula antaining some constants and atomic no and principle quantum no as variables. By evaluating constants we get formula as,
V = 2.188 × 10^6 × Z/n m/sec where z is an atomic no and n is principal quantum no.
So by putting the values for z and n we get,
V = 0.547 × 10^6 m/sec. As 3rd excited state means 4th orbit n = 4 and for H atom z = 1.
Actual formula for velocity in terms of constants is
V = [(2πkze^2)/h] × z/n.
