Volume of a prism

Given. The base of the right prism is ΔABC with side AB = 9 cm and the length of the altitude to that side is h = 6 cm. The height of the prism is H = 14 cm.

To find. Volume of the right prism.

Solution.

When AB is the base ΔABC, then its area,

A = 1/2 * AB * h

= 1/2 * 9 * 6 cm²

= 27 cm²

∴ the volume of the right prism is

V = H * A

= 14 * 27 cm³

= 378 cm³

Answer. The volume of the given right prism is 378 cm³.
