C2H4(ethylene) + 3O2 ———› 2CO2 + 2H2O

Gram atomic mass of ethylene(C2H4) =(2×12+4×1)gm =(24+4)gm =28gm

Gram atomic mass of oxygen (O2) = (2×16)gm = 32gm

For oxydising 1mol of ethylene we require 3mol of Oxygen

∴ For oxidising 2.85 gm of ethylene we require (3×32)gm of oxygen

I.e 96g of Oxygen is required
