Chunks. Chunks of data are known as packets. These packets go through the Application layer and continue to the TCP Layer. Each packets is assigned a port number.

Chunk, also called a data chunk, by RFC2960 SCTP (Stream Control Transmission Protocol) standards it is the term used to describe a unit of information within an SCTP packet that contains either control information or user data.
