The NHAI was created through the promulgation of the National Highways Authority of India Act, 1988. It is responsible for the development, maintenance and management of National Highways, totaling over 92,851.05 km (57,694.97 mi) in length. The NHAI is also responsible of the toll collection on several highways.

Central Public Works Department.
The Central Public Works Department of India, commonly referred to as the CPWD, is a premier Central Government authority in charge of public sector works.

Society for promotion of wasteland development.
To prevent, arrest and reverse degradation of life support systems, particularly land and water so as to expand livelihood opportunities in a sustainable and equitable manner through people's participation.

Work of national highway authority:

NHAI is accountable for controlling a network of over 50,000 km of National Highways out of 1, 15,000 km in India. It is nodal support of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Work of CPWD:

Central public work department takes up works interrelated to the infrastructure needs of the government and upholds the government buildings in existence.

Work of SPWD:

The work of SPWD is to stop, arrest and reverse the degradation of life provision systems, particularly land and water, so as to expand livelihood chances in a viable and equitable manner through people's participation
