What is the zero correction of voltmeter and ammeter?

If zero error (0 error) is positive (the pointer is above zero) you need to subtract it from the reading.
If it's negative (the pointer is below zero) you need to add it to the reading.
The reason is, if the pointer is above 0 it means it is showing a value more than the actual value (which is 0 here) thus even in the reading, the value shown is more than actual value.
Thus subtract 0 error to get actual value.
It's just the reverse for negative 0 error.
