HELLO THERE!

Thermite welding, also known as Alumino-thermy, is a process of welding broken iron parts (like broken parts of rails), etc.

This process shows that aluminium is reducing in nature.

In the process, ferrous oxide and aluminium is taken. The mixture is then ignited with burning Magnesium introduced in a mixture of Potassium chlorate and Barium Peroxide. Aluminium reduces iron oxide to iron (and itself becomes aluminium oxide). Due to a high temperature, the iron thus obtained is in molten form. This molten iron is dropped on the broken parts of rails, which thus are joined when the iron freezes (as its temperature drops).

Reaction: Fe₂O₃ + 2Al ----> Al₂O₃ + 2Fe

HOPE THIS HELPS...

Thanks!
