Thermodynamics is a branch of physics, which generalises the interrelation between heat, work done and energy possessed. It has five subdivisions, mainly -
1. Calorimetry (associated with the changes in energy of a system using transfer of heat).
2. Thermal Expansion (change in shape and volume of a body due to temperature differences).
3. Kinetic Theory of Gases - KTG (study of motion and behaviour of microscopic particles of matter).
4. Laws of Thermodynamics (conservation of energy, increasing entropy and constant entropy at absolute 0)
5. Heat Transfer (conduction, convection, radiation).
