The Thevar surname is used by Maravar clan members. It is also used by certain Agamudayar and Kallar clan members. Kallars, Maravars and Agamudayars are combinedly referred to as the Mukkulathor caste. They speak Tamil. Thevar is synonymous with 'celestial' or 'lord'.
