Tides are defined as the rise and fall of water levels in oceans, lakes, gulfs.
Tides occur due to the strong gravitational pull of Moon on Earth.
Each day, tides occur 4 times. High tide occurs 2 times while low tide occur 2 times. The pattern of the tide depends on the angle of alignment of Moon as well as the Sun. The height of the tide is affected every time as the distance between Earth and Moon changes with their revolution.
The difference between the height of the high tide and height of low tide is called tidal range.

tides are the rise and fall of the sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the sun and the moon and the rotation of the earth
