Time is the indefinite continued progress of existence and events that occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future . mass is inversely proportional to time.but gravity can change the pace of time this is why some scientists believe that we can travel to the future if travel to a place where the force of gravity is minimal and comeback to where we started. but we may not be able to travel to the past as it can cause parodoxes that will last for infinity

Atulkrishnan: exactly...
Atulkrishnan: that's also true..
Atulkrishnan: universe is really a big puzzle...very big
Atulkrishnan: nobody can solve it fully....only it's existence and phenomenon can only be accepted
Lisa101: yeah even Einstein tried to solve this
Atulkrishnan: well thanks ayush for putting such an interesting question here.
Atulkrishnan: It was fun and motivating too...

We don’t know what time is. We know a lot about time, but we don’t understand it. Most of what we do understand about time was derived by Einstein. In that theory, time is the 4th dimension, but we all know it is qualitatively different. We can stand still in space (choose any coordinate system) but we can’t stand still in time. Physics ignores this difference, and uses relativity theory to relate aspects of space and time intervals.

We know that gravity affects the pace of time. For weak fields, the rate of time flows proportional to 1+2V/c2" role="presentation" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; outline: 0px; display: inline; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; font-size: 14px; text-indent: 0px; text-align: left; text-transform: none; letter-spacing: normal; word-spacing: normal; word-wrap: normal; white-space: nowrap; float: none; direction: ltr; max-width: none; max-height: none; min-width: 0px; min-height: 0px; border: 0px; position: relative;">1+2V/c21+2V/c2, where V is the gravitational potential. That was one of Einstein’s key results.
