what is topsoil and parent soil
Answers
Topsoil Soil -:
- Topsoil is the upper, outermost layer of soil, usually the top 5–10 inches (13–25 cm). It has the highest concentration of organic matter and microorganisms and is where most of the Earth's biological soil activity occurs.

Parent soil -:
- The material in which soils form is called “parent material.” In the lower part of the soils, these materials may be relatively unchanged from when they were deposited by moving water, ice, or wind. Sediments along rivers have different textures, depending on whether the stream moves quickly or slowly.

Explanation:
Top soil and subsoil differ in their composition and position relative to each other.
Top soil, as the name suggest, is the layer of earth and soil on the surface of the ground and is usually composed of mixture of organic matter, humus and small particles such as sand. It is where most roots from planets are located. Depending in the location top soil may be an inch thick in very harsh conditions to up to several feet deep.
Subsoil is located below the topsoil and is composed primarily of sand, clay and silt with very little in the way of organic matter, although it can contain deep roots from trees and other plants. It is usually at least a foot to a few feet deep depending on the area.
