Trachea is generally referred as the wind pipe. Wind pipe actually starts from your external nostrils, right to the very end - terminal bronchiole!
Trachea starts exactly below the larynx (voice box) It is made of C shaped cartilages, so that it's muscular in nature. Like, easy for the wind to enter inside. And importantly, trachea is lined inside by cilia. It's nothing but a locomotive hair like projection that prevents harmful stuffs from entering the lungs.
The trachea divides into Primary Bronchi, on either side. That again divides into Secondary bronchi and at last ends up at bronchioles, where the alveoli lies. At the alveoli, gaseous exchange takes place!
Hope that helped you! ❤

The trachea, commonly known as the windpipe, is a tube about 4 inches long and less than an inch in diameter in most people. The trachea begins just under the larynx (voice box) and runs down behind the breastbone (sternum). The trachea then divides into two smaller tubes called bronchi: one bronchus for each lung.
