Bacterial Conjugation: Transfer of genetic material occurs during the process ofbacterial conjugation. During this process, DNA plasmid is transferred from onebacterium (the donor) of a mating pair into another (the recipient) via a pilus.

• DNA is transferred during sexual recombination in a bacterium.

• DNA is a Genetic material transferred from one organism to another organism during sexual recombination.

• This sexual recombination process occurs in three ways.

* Transformation, Transduction, and conjugation.

• Finally, produce genetic recombinants.

• Bacterial recombination is a sexual mechanism it plays an important role in the evolution of new variants in nature.

•In all three mechanisms, only one thing happened.

• Donor cell provides the genetic material for transfer, the recipient cell receives the material.

• The process is going on then new recombinants are generated.
