Translocation: The process through which food is transported in plants through phloem tissue is known as translocation.

It takes place in phloem with the help of energy. it's a multidirectional system.

transportation of soluble products of photosynthesis or food from leaves to other parts of the plants is called translocation .

for translocation, food molecules enter the part of the phloem called sieve tubes from where they can be transported upwards or downwards to all parts of the plant including roots .

translocation is achieved by utilising energy from ATP. it provides osmotic pressure required for the upward and downward movements of food
