\textbf{What is food chain? }

The sequence of living organisms in which one organism eats another is called a food chain.

For example,

Grass --> Grasshopper --> Frog --> Sanke --> Eagle

\textbf{Why only 3-4 trophic levels are available in a food chain ?}

We know that their is a big amount of energy loss observed after each trophic level, so it will not be wrong to say that very less amount of energy will be available for the organism belonging to 3rd, 4th or 5th trophic levels. Hence, due to energy loss enough energy will not be available for such organism to sustain life, thus 3-4 trophic levels are observed in a food chain.
