Deciduous Forest & Tropical Evergreen Forest - Anevergreen forest is a forest consisting entirely or mainly of evergreen trees that retain green foliage all year round. Such forests reign the tropics primarily as broadleaf evergreens, and in temperate and boreal latitudes primarily as coniferous evergreens.

EVERGREEN FOREST

These forests are restricted to heavy rainfall

they are found in the areas of the Western Ghats and island groups of Lakshadweep Andaman Nicobar upper part of Assam and Tamil nadu coast

they are at their best in areas having more than 200 CM of rainfall with a short dry season

the trees reach great heights of 60 metres or even above

Some of the important trees in this forest are ebony, mahogany ,Rosewood, rubber and Cinchona

The common animals found in this forest are elephants ,monkey, lemurs and deer.

the one horned rhinoceros are found in the jungles of Assam and West Bengal

besides animals plenty of birds, bats, sloth, scorpions and snails are found in this jungle.

trees in the forest form a multi layered structure

there is no definite time for trees to shed there leaves
