Answer:

The two kingdom classification system was first proposed by Carolus Linnaeus.

He divided organisms in two Kingdom-

  • Animalia (included all the animals)
  • Plantae (included all the plants)

The Five Kingdoms of Life are as follows ( it is used now a days ) :

  1. Monera (Bacteria)
  2. Protists
  3. Fungi
  4. Animals
  5. Plants

Some of the drawbacks of Two kingdom classification are :

(a) First formed animals were neither plants nor animals.

(b) Fungi differ in structure, physiology and reproductive details from plants.

(c) At lower level of organisation there are several instances where the distinction of plant and animal disappears.

(d) No separation of Prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Both unicellular and multicellular organisms are classified under Protista.
