Ultrasound has a frequency of more than 20kilo hz which a human ear cannot hear.

there are many uses of these waves in industry like medical for x rays etc.

Sonar technology is also based on this.

we cannot longer wave length because the radiation is much more when you use it. It can cause cancer nad also is not suitable to use because it will penetrate the unwanted object also.
