A unit cell is the most basic and least volume consuming repeating structure of any solid. It is used to visually simplify the crystalline patterns solids arrange themselves in. When the unit cell repeats itself, the network is called a lattice.

Unit cell or we can say that unit cell of the crystalline substance can be explained as the smallest repeating part that show us something like a brick in wall of the full geometry of the crystalline substance.
It is considered as the smallest part of the whole crystal substance. In a unit cell it is actually characterized by the edges like lengths a, b and c in the three axes.
And the angles in this are considered as α, β and γ in between the pairs of the edges like bc, ca and ab respectively.
