Unit of gynoecium is ovary.

Some other important points on gynoecium are as follows:-

1. It is Bicarpellary & syncarpous.

2. In the beginning unilocular ovary is found.

3. Because of the formation of replum or false septum vary becomes bilocular.

4. In the ovary wall thalamus is present which help in development of replum.

5. Parietal placentation is found in this.

6. It is found in innermost part of the whorl of the flower.

7. Some flowers do not have gynoecium such flowers are known as staminate.
