Universal Indicators :-

Universal indicator is the mixture of many pH testing solutions, it can test the solutions for acidic or basic properties "over a wide range of pH values".

Universal indicators made up of :-

  • Methyl red
  • Bromothymol blue
  • Phenolphthalein etc, And the only universal indicator is pH indicator which is a solution made up of many compounds.

Use oF Universal Indicators :-

The use of them is to get to know us about the nature of the substances or a chemical.

Just like Litmus & pH papers. It changes the colour of the liquid【The universal indicator】 to show the nature of the substance.

Additional Information :-

A pH indicator is a chemical solution, which is mixed with a solution, will can identify the nature of that solution. By doing this we can able to judge whether a solution is acidic or basic in nature.

pH is the concentration of the hydrogen ions in the tested solution. The higher the pH, the lower is the "presence of the hydrogen ion" in the solution.
