Here comes the role of variation. Variations in species help them to adapt themselves to that particular environment and give them a chance of survival. For example, thermophilic bacteria are variants that are resistant to extreme temperature. They have a chance of survival in high temperate zones while others die.

Variation is the difference in DNA among individuals or the difference between populations.

Importance of variation :-

# Population of organism survive in well defined places or niches using reproduction.

# Body design allow them to survive in that environmental conditions.

# However environmental condition can change all of a sudden resulting in death of population.

# only a few organisms can survive due to variation in their DNA.

for eg : If a population of a bacteria is living in cold water and temperature of water rises due to global warming.Most of the bacteria will die but only a few survive with variation.

# Variation helps in survial of organism.
