Vegetative propagation is a mode of asexual reproduction in which new plants are obtained from the vegetative parts of plants.It doesnot involve the production of seeds are spores for the propagation of new plants.

Vegetative propagation is an asexual mode of reproduction in which the entire plant grows from a parent plant part. It is a mode of reproduction in which genetically identical plants develop. The examples of the vegetative propagation are:

1. Formation of buds: The runners are the stems which grows horizontally, above the surface of ground. They grow small buds which develop into new plants. Also, on the surface of the leaves the development of the buds result in the development of plantlets, which later grows as individual plants.

2. Grafting method: Grafting is an artificial vegetative propagation technique in which the stems of the plants are cut and grown into another medium or soil. The stem develops roots and leaves in this process later on and develops as entirely new plant.
