The process of vein formation on the leaf is known as venation. The two types of venation are:

  • Reticulate venation
  • Parallel venation

✒Reticulate venation

Reticulate venation includes irregular vein arrangement for the creation of a network.

Examples: Hibiscus, papaya, leaves of Tulsi, Coriander, China Rose, Mangifera,

✒Parallel venation

Parallel venation means that the veins run parallel to each other.

Examples: Grains, Musa, Grass, Oryza, banana, canna, maize.

Venation means the organisation of the veins on the leaf...it is of two types!
PARALLEL VENATION- seen in monocot plants with fibrous root system
RETICULATE VENATION- seen in dicot plants with tap root system
