Vernacular Press Act 1878 is the curtail in which Indian language got its freedom from non English press. This was proposed by the Indian Viceroy known as Lord Lytton. From vernacular press intended to prevent British policy criticism.
The opposition had developed as the Second Anglo Afghan War in between year 1878-80.Such an act has excluded the publication of English language.
