Virus is a script or program or software, same as like other softwares and programs or scripts (which we use in daily life like, VLC, MS Office, etc.).
What they do is, they just try to distract our computer from the proper flow of it.
For example, it may disable ur color of the screen, it may convert ur folders into exe files. It may Disable or enable remote access of ur computer and so on.
