What is viscosity........
Answers
Explanation:
Viscosity :
It is the property of fluid by which an internal force of friction come into play when a fluid is in motion and which opposes the relative motion between its different layer is called viscosity
The backward dragging force act tangentially on the layer of the fluid in motion .
Cause of Viscosity :
Consider a liquid flowing slowly over a horizontal surface . Each layer of liquid moving parallel to horizontal surface .
The layer in contact with surface is at rest and the velocity of the every other layer increases uniformly upward as shown in attach figure by arrow......
If We will consider any two adjacent layer in liquid (a ) and ( b ) . As given in figure .
The upper fast moving layer ( a ) tend to accelerate the lower slow moving layer ( b ) while the slow moving layer ( b ) tend to retard the fast moving layer ( a ).
As the result backward dragging tangential force F come into play which tend to destroy the relative motion . To maintain the motion , an external force has to be applied to overcome the backward viscous force .
Example :
When we swim in pool we experience some resistance to our motion . this is on account of viscous force of water ....
Thank you
Explanation:
Viscosity::::
♥ It is a property of a liquid that is closely related to the resistance to the flow
♥ it is defined in terms of the force required to move one plane surface continuously past another under specified study state conditions when the space between is filled by the liquid
♥ It is a quantitative measure of a fluids resistance to flow
♥ it is the internal friction of the fluid
There are two tyoes of viscosity
♥ Absolute viscosity
♥ Kinematic viscosity
