WATER CRYSTALLISATION-

The number of water molecules in a chemical combined with salt is called water crystallization. the geometrical shape and the colour of Crystal depend upon the number of water molecule.

eg-

Blue vitrol -CuSo4.5H2O

Gypsum- CaSo4.7H2O

Water of crystallisation is a fixed number of water molecules present in one formula unit of a salt.  When hydrated salts are heated strongly, they lose their water of crystallisation. On strong heating, blue copper sulphate crystals turn white (due to the loss of water of crystallisation).
