Water from ponds, rivers, plants, lakes etc. evaporated by the heat of the sun and gets converted into small vapors which dissolve in the atmosphere. At certain height, these vapors form water droplets due to cold temperature and condenses to form clouds. Once condensed, the clouds move from one place to another due to fast blowing winds and once they struck each other they start to precipitate. This precipitation is called rainfall. Rainfall can be in the form of rain, hail etc.
