A state in which we cannot feel the effect of gravity is called weightlessness or to be more precise " microgravity"

MICROGRAVITY→

Micro stands for small or weak, gravity is the force of attraction.Hence microgravity can be defined as very small or weak gravity

Astronauts in the space feel weightlessness because :-

1) They are in the state of free fall. Though they are not falling on the Earth, the only force acting on it is gravity

2) As no force other than gravitational force is acting, it is in free fall state and due to vacuum they feel weightless

Answer:

Weightlessness:

  • The body is said to be weightlessness if reaction force or apparent force or gravitation acceleration becames zero.

Conditions for Weightlessness:

  • Freely falling lift or object their reaction force is 0.
  • R = m(g - a) [When acceleration is equal to the acceleration due to gravity i.e. a = g]
  • R = m(g - g)
  • So, R = 0

  • At the center of earth their gravity is 0.

  • Inside a space craft their reaction force is zero we experience weightlessness.
