There was a lot of hunting of wild animals & illegal activities started happening in the forest. There was no rules no regulations & absoutely no protection to our forest and the wild. Seeing this, in 1972 Congress government came up with Wildlife protection act to save our forest and wildlife. We depend on forests for our survival, from the air we breathe to the wood we use & keystone species plays a unique and crucial role in the way an ecosystem functions. Without keystone species, the ecosystem would be dramatically different or cease to exist altogether. This was the reason why government stepped in & declared National parks & wildlife sanctuaries.

I hope this will help you dear..
