Gram panchayat levies certain taxes which also acts as the sourve of fund for its adminstration apart from the funds received by the upper government.

Gram panchyat collects land revenue and taxes on house, water, vehicle etc. Village Fair and markets taxes are included in this list.

In Maharashtra the number of zila parishad in only 34 while the number if district in 36. However, earlier Maharashtra only had 26 district back in 1960 when it was created.
